The classic Pear has small boobs, long waist, flat tummy, great arms, saddlebags and heavy legs. The shape has a rather unfair negative image, when in fact, this body shape has lots of advantages. There is often the idea that Pears are overweight, but it doesn't mean one have to be chubby because the bottom half is bigger than the rest. Pears have a lot of the good stuff going on. Just look at all these famous pear shaped women, strutting their stuff, and being proud of their "big" bottom. To sum it up, you have the same body type as Beyonce, need I say no more? The most important guidelines. - It's terribly hard to find something that's unflattering on Beyonce, that said, I found some things. To no surprise at all it is the worst enemy of the Pear shape, the jodhpur, harem and cropped pants. Wide-legged trousers with a flat front, or firm normal-waist jeans are a much better match for the Pear figure. - If you have very wobbly legs, then best not to wear shorts and mini skirts. High heals and some firming pantyhose might help a little though. - Ankle strap ballerinas in a dark color is really unflattering for your curvy legs. Skin colored, chunky, straight heels with platform does your legs justice. - With the Pear shape, Its just a question of balancing everything below the waist. Wear big earrings and necklaces, flashy tops, puff sleeves and layering. Just keep the focus on your lovely slim top and love the junk in your trunk.
Other Pears: Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Katie Holmes, Jennifer Lopez, and Shakira. There are just so many fabulous pears that I had to use them all, and hopefully it will make up for the body shape's bad reputation. (The 12 body shape and rules are mostly borrowed from Trinny and Susannah's Body Shape Bible. I have made some alterations. Photos in this post are borrowed from Google. Unknown source.) To quote Sir Mix-a-Lot: "I like big butts".

Hi, Elena :-) Your measurements doesn't sound fat to me. You seem to have a lovely curved figure with a small waist, good chest, and a bootie :-) Size doesn't matter, only shape does and knowing how to dress it.

I took one of those online body shape calculators and it said that I had a pear shaped body. But my breast are not small and my waist is short not long but my bottom is big. I think that I a cross between a pear and a cello. Here are my measurements 34 shoulders 41.5 bust 36 waist 46 hips oh and my stomach is not flat at all

Hi, Theresa. From your description, it sounds to me like you're either a Cello (The Pear shape of the Hourglass family), or a Bell (A Pear shape with a short waist and less of a flat tummy)

Hi! Don't know If you read the post too, since you said "they"? Only one person is showing yes and no outfits, Beyonce. The other ones are just to show more examples of the Pear body type. Also, I do mention that it is terribly hard to find anything that looks bad on Beyonce. So, nothing is really bad on her, it just doesn't bring out the "best" in her body from a body type perspective. You could say only "no" outfits could even come close to not bringing out the best in her, as "yes" clothes and everything in between works perfectly for her. If you look at it from a fashion perspective, your body shape doesnt matter and only self-expression does. In fashion, it's not about showing of or shaping your body, but creating a look. So, I guess you could say that there is no such thing as wrong styles and shapes in fashion. It's all trends that come and go. But, from a balancing your body type perspective, there are some rights and wrongs. It's really about giving people the tools to take control over the clothes and shape their bodies. That way people can know what what kind of style Will do with what kind of body type. For example, pencil skirts are traditionally a big "No" for a pear shape, but That's only because buts were supposed to be small when that rule was made. So, personally, I think pencils skirts are great on Pear shapes. Yes and No, might sound dramatic, but it just means that that "Yes" is the best styles to enhance a pear shape, and "no" is the least flattering styles. Or in other words, the styles that Will hide the figure or make it more extreme. So, it can really be a taste thing too. However, most people tend to feel their best, in their "Yes" clothes. On the other side, Beyonce could wear a plastic bag and look good, so I understand your confusion. It would have been better to use a less "can wear anything" pear shape, but I had to use someone where I had access to enough photos to find the clothes I needed to show, on them. So, in a perfect world, I should have done my own photo shoots, but then I couldn't have made this a free page. On us mear mortals that aren't Beyonce and her Hollywood kind, the no outfits would be more obvious. Luckily, more women in all kinds of sizes and shapes are considered models these days, so the chance of finding someone That's more relatable wearing these "Yes and no" clothes, is getting bigger by the minute. Natural models were not as big a thing yet when I wrote this, so the options of representation was a bit more narrow :-)

Hi,I'm pretty small and just started gaining weight recently. My shoulders are 36in, bust 32in,waist 24in, and hip 36in. I know I'm not a rectangle, because my waist is small, compared to my hip. Sometimes I think I'm an inverted triangle, but then my shoulders are sloppy. I doubt I'm an hour glass either because I have a low hip. I'm dont even think I'm a pear.Maybe I'm body typeless.lol.What do you think my body type is?

Hi, Katy! I think it sounds like you're a Skittle. A Skittle is very similar to a Pear, but a little more balanced. I would check out the Skittle and see if that fits.

Hi, Katy! What you are describing does sound a lot like a Pear, but also a little bit like your top might be to proportionate to your bottom. A Pear will have a long waist though, and an Hourglass has a short waist. From what you’re describing, I would also check out the Skittle, and since yoy say your ankles are also small which is not typical for the Skittle and Pear, also check out the Vase and Cello. Vase and Skittle has a long torso, Cello has a short waist like the Hourglass.

Hi, Louise! It actually sounds like you're a Vase from your description. Check it out, and let me know if it's not a fit and we'll digg a little deeper. A Bottom heave body type will usually have heave lower legs, so curvy types sounds the most likely. But a Column, Goblet, Skittle, and Cello can also be an option. Most likely Vase, but it depends on the overall look of the bod.

Hi, Cat! It sounds like you're either a very slender Hourglass, but probably more likely a Vase. Geena Davis has a small chest when she was young and she's a Vase. I'm basing this off that I think you might have a long waist since you're looking at the Pear body type. Also, the Cello can be a good possibility. Depends on your waist length and thighs and lower legs.

Hi, Lika! From what you're describing it sounds like you're most likely a Skittle or Pear. However, you could also be a Bell, Cello, Hourglass or Vase. The fact that you have small ankles and a somewhat balanced curve is more Hourglass, Vase, and Cello. The long torso with the description is more Pear, Vase, and Skittle. However, the bottom heavy types like Skittle, Bell and Pear, usually have heavier ankles/calves. So if you have long legs too, or slender calves compared to thighs, that could mean Vase or Cello. So, those are the types I think of when I read your description. It just depends on the final details and total sum/overall look of your figure.

Hi, Lika! From what you're describing, it sounds the most like you're a Pear, Skittle, or even a Vase. Given the fact that you say you have a long torso, and big bottom, flat stomach, and so on. The small anklescombines with this is why maybe cheking out the Vase too could be helpful.

Hi, Dina! From what you're describing, it sounds like you could be a Pear, Skittle, Bell, or Cello. The fact that you say you gain weight on your legs, makes it seem like it's all of the leg, which means also the lower legs. And that's typical for the bottom heavy body types. Can also be true for the Hourglass and Brick too, and sometimes Cello. Your measurements makes it seem like your shoulders are the widest part, but that you still have a slimmer upper body. That points more to a Cello or Skittle. Also, your dramatic curve makes Brick less likely. You could still be a Pear, but they usually don't have shoulders wider than hips. However, it is possible. The length of your torso, like waist length, and it upper body or legs are the longest is an important factor too. So look at the types I've mentioned and add that to the equation too, and that should help you see more clearly which type is the best fit for you.

Hi, Maria! From what you're describing, it sounds like you could be a Pear, Skittle, Bell, Hourglass, Vase, or Cello. To know for sure which typer you are, you need to look at where for example your weight is distributed on your other body parts too. Are your legs, but, and hips, the part with the most curve? Or is it you chest, arms, or maybe your tummy? Or maybe it is all of the above? Lower body curvy points to bottom heavy body types, and both upper and lower body, but with visible curve, points to curvy types like hourglass and similar, and only or mostly upper body curve points to top heavy. The length of your torso, like waist length, and if the upper body or legs are the longest, is also an important factor. So look at the types I've mentioned and add that to the equation too, and that should help you see more clearly which type is the best fit for you.

Hi, Apeksya! From what you're describing it sounds like you could be a a bottom heavy body type from the small shoulder measurements compared to the rest, or a curvy type because of the chest, hip, and waist measurements.

Hi again, Apekshya! If by spoon, you mean Pear, as that sounds like a similar shape. I would say that the Pear, but also kind of Hourglass, and with balanced measurements, short waist, and broad shoulders. It sounds a lot like you're a Cello. It is very typical that Cello body types feel like they're a mix between those two types.

Hello! I've always been unsure of my body type. I know I'm bottom heavy, with wide hips and full thighs, but I have a smaller bust, broad shoulders, and a fairly defined waist. The upper body is slimmer (but not toned) while the bottom half is quite fleshy (also not toned). From the front I look quite broad, and from the side I look more slim and flat chested. Also, I'm 5'10" and 150 lbs. My measurements are:
