The defining features of the Lollipop are large but not heavy boobs, slim hips, proportionally small waist and long elegant legs. For the Lollipop is is about balancing the proportions, such as to broaden the shoulders and hips a little to smooth that often too top heavy look.

Great information! Just discovered tonight that I am a lollipop and it's great to have celebrity comparisons so I can get style inspiration from them. Thanks for breaking it down with photos!

Hi again :) Thank you for that. Helping people makes me happy, and I feel it is important for people to understand and accept their bodies. Too many people think there is something wrong with their bodies, when actually they are completely normal. So I try to take the time when I can :).

I can clarify the difference to make sure you have all the tools to figure it out.

I can see why you would see them as more of a Vase, but their hips are too narrow, and their upper bodies definitely more prominent.
It can be really difficult to determine a body shape when people are thin, because the differences of the body types gets more prominent when one has more fat/muscles, because it will highlight the areas that is typical for a body type.

Here are some examples.
First Lollipop, Uma Thurman.

http://bikiniswimwear9.blogspot.no/2008/07/uma-thurman-two-piece-bikini.html

http://leciol03.free.fr/int/leciol71/uma_thurman15.jpg

And then Katy Perry (she is a bit more in the middle. If she gained a little weight it would show better, because if she is a vase she would gain equally to the hips as well, and not only mostly the chest. But at the weight she is now, her hips are too narrow. Remember, in some cases body shape can change with weight gain og loss.

And then Kate Winslet, who is a typical vase.

Finally To compare the Lollipop and the Goblet.
See how the chest and back (rib area) of The Goblet, Catherina Zeta Jones has a broadness to it, that Lollipop Angelina Jolie doesn't have. Even though they both appear to have slightly wide shoulders. That would be the biggest difference between a Lollipop and a Goblet.

About you. I can see why you would identify more with the Lollipop body type, since you have a shapely figure. Many think that Goblets have straight waists. But in fact Goblets can have a waistline, just a straighter one. Lollipops have a slight curve to their waistline. Also it could be more of a Lollipop feel if the person is very thin, but your bone structure will still be the same. In these new photos, your back and chest seem slightly wider in the second photo, and more small framed like a Lollipop in the first. The last one still makes me feel like you are slightly more of a Goblet. Think about how broad your chest and back is underneath the boobs, and if you have a tendency to store fat on you upper arms. If you you have a broad torso and answer yes to my last question, then I would say Goblet. If not, you're a Lollipop.

It could be beneficial to try to break some of the rules of these too groups, and see what suits you the least, and then opposite (what suits you best).

I am a Skittle with broad shoulders, so I follow the rules for the Skittle, on anything but my shoulders. I will enhance them, but not make them look wider. They already match my hip width (not roundness though!) And I'm 6 feet, so wider shoulders would be slightly masculine. So it is possible to be a hybrid. Maybe you are (as you say), a Lollipop with broader shoulders. But you will eventually have more in common with one of the groups. So I am sure you can figure it out. :)

if i were (somehow in sci-fi land) the biological child of Naomi & Tyra...i'd tell you, i get my skin tone, thin arms, narrow hips, small round booty and long shapely legs from my mommy Naomi and my big 38Ds & skinny ankles from my mommy Tyra.

i'm currently38 - 34 - 36 at 5' 10" (i've lost 25 lbs thus far this yr).
i feel like my i am cornet b/c of my narrow hips & long legs w/ a splash of lollipop with my big boobs alot like Uma.
there are also great waist defining ideas in 'goblet - your best looks' that i can apply whilst i'm reducing my middle.
thanx for posting this, it's an immense help especially for dressing comfortably and confidently being tall w/ a large rack. lol :)

You welcome ;) A Goblet or a Lollipop can also have narrow hips and long legs, just as the Cornet. What those three groups have in common, are great legs. So you are probably either a Goblet or a Lollipop. If you have a wider torso/shoulders/back you probably lean more towards Goblet, and if your top half is petite (except for boobs) you might be a Lollipop. The thin arms make me think you lean more towards the petite build of a Lollipop, but the fact that you considered Cornet, makes me think Goblet.

Hi,
I wanted to make sure that I'm a lollipop figure type. my breast size is between 32DD and I'm 5'5. I have skinny legs but my hips and bust are relatively close in measurment, and my waist is 26 inch. I'm always suffering in finding suitable dress sizes and styles that define my waist, I always feel shapeless. can you give me extra suggestions if its possible. Also for example when I go shopping, either the top doesn't fit but the waist does. or when I buy pants the legs fit perfectly but the waist doesn't fit, and the larger size, the legs are lose. thanks in advance.

Hi, Rania :-) You could be a Lollipop or Goblet, and maybe even an Hourglass, Cello or Vase without knowing your shoulder width and hip width? Waist and bust size needs to be compared with shoulders, hips, and leg width.
Proportion is really important in determining the body type.
Is your waist smaller than your hips, and how are your shoulders in comparison?

http://www.idealiststyle.com/the-body-types.html

If you want, you can send me a photo of your figure to idealiststyledotcom@gmail.com, and then I could see what the overall look is leaning towards :-)

But, If you yourself think you look the most similar to the Lollipop, then that is probably correct. You know your figure better than anyone.

The problem that you may have encountered, is that 60% of the female population on this planet is pear shaped/bottom heavy. So, the Lollipop and similar top heavy shapes usually do have a struggle finding dresses that will fit well in both the top and the bottom. Also, not a lot of brands create clothes for people who have extreme shape. Anyone with large boobs, large but, really tiny waist, or wide shoulders, and so on, will have a bigger challenge finding the perfect fit. Myself being a skittle (a bottom heavy), I have a size small to medium waist and a extra large hips and thighs, so I too struggle finding pants, dresses, and skirts that are tight enough in the waist while wide enough on the but and thighs, and so on.

Clothing is usually cut for straight figures, or bottom heavy with a tummy, making the bottom half closer to a straight figure, or top heavy with a tummy and hips. This makes it easier for more people to fit into the clothes they sell, even when not perfectly fitted.
For example, my hourglass friends find everything to be too loose in the waist.

So, I would recommend buying tops and skirts separately to mix and match instead of dresses and jumpsuits. Also, find the one, two, or three perfect styles/shapes/cuts and brands that work for you and just stick with it. Do you have any of those pieces of clothing in your wardrobe already? Look for stuff that looks like those shapes and cuts. Following trends and having a new style all the time is overrated when it comes to looking and feeling your best.
Myself, I can seriously only wear one type of pants, the super skinny high waisted jeans, because they fit in the waist and are elastic enough to simultaneously fit my larger bottom half and hug my shape. And just one type of skirt, the A-line and similar's. Not to loose and bulky, and not too tight anywhere... well, at least not visibly ;-) I just have them in many different colors, textures and materials. It can take some time between every time I find the style that works for me, so when it's in trend, I just buy a couple of looks, to make sure I have some options in my closet.

For you I would guess your best bet is cigarette pants, pencil skirts (fluted, paneled and so on) and skinny jeans. Also, elastic material will help follow your figure without looking too loose or tight anywhere. Thick and firm elastic material's will always be the most shaping and forgiving.

On the waist issue with dresses or tops, I would go with something that fits the chest, and add a belt to accentuate the waist. You can also tuck the top into a high waisted skirt, go all elastic materials, or pick something that can be fitted directly under the chest, such as cardigans/blazers with buttons, or empire line tops. Also, I will tailor my tops myself. I just take in the waistline a bit with my sewing machine to make sure the top flatters my figure properly (To avoid covering up my only petite part, since I'm super tall).
The famous Lollipop women in the article above, most likely all have their dresses tailored to fit their figures. Something to think about. Maybe buy less clothes, and rather invest in tailoring a few perfect outfits. You can buy a dress and get it taken in where you need it for a reasonable price in most cities. Better to look and feel great, than having a hundres dresses that looks... ok-ish. Quality over quantity style.

The most important guidelines for the Lollipop:
-Focus on styles that balance the proportions, such as to broaden the shoulders and hips a little to smooth that often too top heavy look.
-Deep and wide V-necks and scoop necklines are great for enhancing your assets. Halter-neck and sweetheart necklines that offers good support are also good choices.
- Avoid chunky sweaters and shift dresses that hangs straight down from the boobs.
- Elaborate necklaces will make the chest look even larger, and the same goes for bolero jackets.
- Anything chunky, loose, or too covering on the bosom, will make the shape look disproportionate and create an extreme version of the figure.
- Wide-leg pants hide those fabulous legs and make them look like sticks.
- Bell-bottom pants, fluted skirts, details on the hip, and ballon-sleeves helps to create curves in the areas that have less.

What shape am I if I measure 36-28-38 but 5'4.5'' 32DD and short medium size legs but I already see that shoulders and upper half is bigger although shoulders measure 38'' too? I do see myself as top heavy, waist somewhat defined but pretty straight, although short legs. I don't have that long legs but they are in no way full but not slim and long either? Sometimes I look almost balanced, other times I do see that bust and shoulders are bigger? I wonder if bellbottoms would make it look better as calves and ankles are quite small and hips are not straight, but not so curvy either. I have tried to work out my lower half and it does help, but my hips are high. I'm thinking goblet or maybe lollipop?

Hi, Baby!

So, your shoulders are 38 inches,
your chest is 36 inches and a 32DD bra size.
Your waist in 28 inches. Not very defined, but not straight either.
And high placed hips that balance shoulders at 28 inches.
You have short legs that are medium sized.
Ankles and calves as slender and small.

I think this sounds more like a Goblet, as the Lollipop tend to be more allover petite except the chest, and the Goblet tend to be the one with more on the lower half, like the hips.

The fact that you feel like you're top heavy, suggest that you're not a Brick, Column, or any of the Hourglass, Vase, Cello types. And neither the bottom heavy, Skittle, Bell or Pear. So, I think that Goblet seems like the best fit for what you're describing.

Bellbottom pants are better for the Lollipop, so if you're a Goblet, skinny or straight pants would be better.

I hope this helped! :-)

Xxx, Sun.

Hello! I was wondering what body type I was because I feel like I'm very disproportioned compared to the general population and I've been having trouble classifying my body type.

I currently weigh 110 pounds, I am 5'7. I have a 30DD chest size, and my waist is a 23 and I generally wear a size 0 and small. I have very long legs that are skinny, and they take up most of my body. I'm not sure if I have a short torso or that my chest makes my torso look a lot shorter than it is, but I feel that I have very wide hips with a small waist.

I'm just confused because I feel that I have curves, but due to the fact that I am generally skinny, they make my body look disproportioned and a lot bigger than it.

As well as that I was wondering if you had any suggestions for how to minimize the appearance of my chest and make my torso look longer.

Thank you!

Hi, Lexie! As I don't know all of your measurements, shoulders width and so on, it's hard to be sure. However, I think it sounds like you're either a top heavy or a balanced body type. The two that is the best fit for what you're describing is the Goblet (has a broad back and can have more hips) or the Vase ( A stretched Hourglass). You could still be a Lollipop too. I would check out these three types to begin with, and see which one fits the best. There are two posts for each body type, so look at both of the post for these body types and see. https://www.idealiststyle.com/the-body-types.html

I hope this helped!

Hello Sun,
Thank you for an interesting article. What do you mean with "large but not heavy breasts", please?. Thanks in advance

Hi, Lilie! «Large, but not heavy breast», means that they don’t feel as dominating even though they’re large. But that might be as cryptic as the first explanation. It’s how someone with large, but not heavy breast can wear a strapless top or spaghetti straps without it looking like the straps will snap or the girls will fall out. Heavy breast make it look more dominating. It is often due to the fact that the Goblet has a broad back and decolotage too, and the Lollipop is more like a Column with a large chest. So the Lollopop is a bit more delicate in a sense, and a Goblet more powerful looking. I hope that explained it. If not let me know, and I will try again. :-)

Xxx, Sun.
